Born in Boston and brought up in the small town of Stoneham, MA, Dr. Michelle Hughes is a proud New Englander who has spent the last 10 years studying and living across different parts Massachusetts, Maine and New Hampshire. Dr. Hughes graduated from the University of New England College of Dental Medicine in Portland, Maine and went on to completing a postdoctoral residency program in Advanced Education in General Dentistry in Fitchburg, MA.
Prior to dental school, she received her Master’s Degree in Oral Health Sciences from Boston University School of Dental Medicine. Throughout her academic career, Dr. Hughes has always tried to find ways to help her community, whether through mentoring programs that help promote dentistry as a career for minorities, or community outreach programs. During her last year of dental school, she completed a 3-month externship in a Mid-State Health Center in Bristol, NH where she focused on serving the primary care needs of at-risk patients and the underserved population of central New Hampshire.
At a young age, Michelle caught the travel bug after her first trip to Peru when she was only 2 years old. Realizing there is so much more to see in this world, Michelle’s dream is to visit the 7 wonders of the world. From climbing the mountains of Peru to exploring the ancient Mayan pyramids of Mexico, Michelle hopes to make this dream come true.
Locally, she enjoys driving through all parts of New England with her husband, especially during the fall season. Her other passions include cooking and dabbling in different art projects like sketching and painting. Just like her art, she meticulously works to create a beautiful smile for all her patients.
